Melody Helps Cheshire East CAB

Citizens Advice Bureau Garden Party a Roaring Success

Last Saturday, Cheshire East Citizens Advice Bureau held a Garden Party and Dog Show in Smallwood to raise funds for improvements to the client access areas of their offices across Cheshire East.

Despite being the first event of its kind run by Cheshire East CAB the event which was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Congleton raised almost £2000.

Chief Officer Liz Shaw said “We had a great day and are looking forward to making improvements to our offices which will directly benefit our clients. As a Charity we are very grateful for the support given to us by all who attended and generously supported event”.

Organiser Hazel Salter paid tribute to the local businesses who supported the event, saying “Despite the current climate, local businesses have really rallied to our plea for help donating marquees, produce and services.  Without their help and support, organising this event would have been considerably more difficult.  Many businesses were unaware that we are a charity but once they heard what we were doing companies like the Melody Corporation got behind the project and helped us tremendously”.

Clients and volunteers will now be consulted for their views on how the bureau should spend the money in each of the offices.

Fundraising is essential to the sustainability of the CAB service which many people see as a lifeline in times of difficulty.  If you would like to donate please text CABS39 £1 to 70070 or visit our website for other ways to donate.
